Because I Have No Summer Plans...

Oops... so its the middle of April and I still have no idea what I am going to do this summer. My parents have been on my case about my summer plans since the beginning of the semester, but all I could focus on was managing my school work-I wasn't concerned. Because I am naturally someone who needs to know whats going on and likes to plan things way in advance, I am shocked that I had such a nonchalant mindset. I figured how hard could it be to find a summer internship or job especially when I live in New York City. Well, turns out it can be very hard. I met with career services and man oh man was I overwhelmed by the steps they said I needed to take before even thinking about a prospective offer. In high school, I had the opportunity to intern at a place called Project Renewal, an non-for profit that helps the homeless in NYC. I got this job thought my high school's internship program where parents would offer positions to students. I still had to apply, etc and send out a resume but looking back on it the opportunity was basically handed to me. I guess that is what they call networking! According to career services, the first step is to contact someone just to network and if nothing is available you can at least contact them down the road again. All the overwhelming aspects (or maybe just the effort that my semi lazy self did not want to put into the summer at the time) of finding a summer job or internship made me even more hesitant to act fast. Anyway, had I devoted some time to this in January like a normal person, it wouldn't have been as overwhelming as it is trying to do this all last minute. But, because I am me I am certain that SOMETHING must come up. I do admit that when they say that THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW, they really mean it. I applied for some jobs at Skidmore, and if worse comes to worse maybe I will stick around for a summer session and take a class. I hear Saratoga Springs sure is a beauty in the summer! Maybe Roxie and I can go to a horse race or two.

Because I Couldn't Be More Sick of the Dining Hall....

Dont get me wrong... I know we have pretty good dining hall food for a college campus, but I have just about had it with dhall. You are probably gasping at the thought of someone hating on our dining hall, but I am just at wits end with it. Maybe it's the New York City brat in me that has grown up in a city with every kind of food imaginable, but I know that something is wrong because I have even started to be frustrated at late night. Yes, I went there. Before you get mad and outraged, you should know that I frequent late night basically every day and normally that is when I will end up eating. I have just gotten so sick of the fried foods that I once enjoyed eating in dhall, and yes I switch it up and make myself eggs, and yes the occasional salad and sandwich, but I am no longer satisfied. Hopefully this will change as I hear some people tend to have a love-hate relationship with dhall. Dhall and I are currently going through a tough time and it is driving me crazy. I long for the days when I will live off campus or in Scribner with a kitchen to cook. Even if you are lovin life in dhall I am sure you can relate to me when I say I sure miss a good old home cook meal every now and then (now more than ever).

Because who here is ready for it to not snow?

Ah, the first day of spring. FINALLY! it has rolled around after this long dreadful winter. But wait... just kidding! If you were like me you woke up Monday morning after hopefully spending your break where warm weather even meant 55 degrees, and felt completely betrayed by mother nature. The signs of grass on the ground that had long been forgotten appeared to be surfacing Sunday afternoon- until it snowed. So the weather forecast for the next two days claims there are chances of snow, but because I do not like the thought of this it CANNOT snow. I think the weather report must be wrong because it has snowed enough this winter and I for one will not stand for it anymore!

Because Who Needs Math Anyway?....

Now although I have the math capabilities of a Sophomore in high school, and although I never took anything beyond Algebra II in high school, I have no shame in the fact that math just isn't for me. Don't worry- I have many other talents and strong academic achievements that there is no need for me to feel bad about not being able to understand percents, long division, and any other ridiculous things that may come in handy when I am older and need to pay taxes or write people checks and what not. Well the QR exam says otherwise. It pretty much screams YOU ARE DUMB before you even take the test. Guess who is probably one of the only few Freshmen who have yet to take the test? ME! and I have mastered the skills needed to slyly avoid the test for whatever possible reason. Yes, I know if I don't pass it this semester I will be the loser in remedial math next semester on Friday morning at 8am, but have no fear- I plan on eventually conquering my phobia of math before the summer rolls around. But anyway because I decided to write about this there is obviously a point, which is who really needs math anyway?

Because I am the greatest, you must know that it is not my fault that I am horrific with numbers. It dates back to my elementary schools days when I was in a large classroom of about 30 kids, and my teacher did not have time to give me individual help when we were learning about long division and multiplication. In fact, I STILL have yet to fully memorize all the multiplication times table. I know what you're thinking" wow... what an idiot", but you are really truly wrong as usual. Lots of people were bad at math, like Albert Einstein, and look at how he turned out? Yep, I am basically letting you know that I have many qualities of a genius that have just yet been discovered. But because I can't comprehend math you would never guess that me and good ol' Einstein have many similar traits. Fooled you there!

Because I Still Love Con Bro Chill (And You Should Too)

Because He Rocks

So, although I already posted Con Bro Chill's amazing video "Come to My Party", there is still much to appreciate and marvel over in his other hilarious videos. The one that you are about to obsess over and have stuck in your head for days at time is the newest addition, aka  "Respect Your Partner". Now before you begin viewing this video, please remember that I know that you'll either A) really really really not care for it (which is obviously wrong and you are going to change your mind- because you have no other choice), B) LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! omgee!! so psyched!!! , or C) find it amusing, but not that funny (seriously, if you feel like this,  like I so misguidedly thought I did, you are going to find out that after a few views you will be sending this to your friends).  Either way no one can deny that Con Bro Chill aka Connor Martin, is a ridiculous human being. As I said in my earlier post, you should click on some of his other videos on youtube. I know you probably wont do that, so have no fear because if you read my blog you will be forced to watch more at a later time.

Good luck trying to resist your love for Con Bro Chill!

Because 1800Flowers Sucks...

Because you suck 1800flowers

DISCLAIMER: BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY LONG, BUT NONE THE LESS NECESSARY RANT, YOU MUST STICK WITH IT UNTIL THE END BECAUSE I'LL NEVER TORTURE YOU WITH A POST THIS LONG AGAIN

So even though Valentines day is a hallmark holiday and what not, making it not even a real thing, I am still actually annoyed this year. My boyfriend decided to do something nice and order me flowers and the whole works to good ol' Skidmore. Little did he know that he was using the WORST site on the planet (yes.... it is the worst site because I said so and because everyone else in the link above me says so, and there are many more links out there that were filled with even better costumer complaints but I unfortunately forgot how I found them so the above link will have to suffice). Instead of relaxing and going about my daily business I spent the past two days running around and anxiously awaiting a supposed delivery to my room. Naturally, being the anxious, neurotic Jew that I am, I felt obligated to make sure I was around for those flowers, and I sat in many classes worrying that they would be delivered while I was in class and not in my room. Therefore I was continuously worrying that someone would A) take them (I know what you're thinking... "wow she doesn't even trust people at her own school!"...not true, my neurotic mind must always consider every option so you never know), or B) the deliverer would not leave them unless I was present.

As it turns out, on Monday morning 1800Flowers apparently said the flowers would have to be delivered on Tuesday due to the large volume of Valentine orders they received (already unprofessional in my eyes because Monday was Valentines day and the order was placed in advance). Anyway, that didn't phase me because I am pretty simple when it comes to getting gifts from boyfriends or whomever, and a  nice card is really all I need. My boyfriend was in a frenzy though about the stupid flowers and so in turn I began to fret.

Tuesday rolls around and apparently 1800Flowers claimed that the flowers would arrive before 1 pm. I stuck around my dorm until my 2pm class just incase. While in class I compulsively looked at my phone to see if some delivery dude was calling me to open up my dorm. 3:30 pm rolls around an my boyfriend begins to overwhelm my phone with texts about the flowers and whether or not I have received them and how angry he will be if they weren't there blah blah blah. So I back to my room and there was nothing at my door. I was not worried as I figured it was just a matter or time and what not. Then, my boyfriend gets an email claiming that the flowers were delivered at 2:15...UH OH. I didn't get any flowers. So then my neurotic genes really kicked in and I began to google customer reviews and I read with horror each post about flowers never coming, money never being returned, 1800Flowers being the biggest scam of the century, flowers arriving dead, and other horrible things. This made me nervous and relaxed because I thought maybe they are just screwing up big time.. but because I was told they had been delievered I worried it was my fault (obviously a crazy thought). Apparently they were delivered to a "Colton Kennedy"... ummm what / who the heck is that. No such person exists on campus so this claim was bizzare. I felt bad that my boyfriend had to feel frantic about this even though I really didn't need flowers etc.

After giving up and on the way to fight for a refund, I received a call from a mysterious office on the third floor of case this morning, informing me that flowers had been sitting there since Monday for me. PHEWW PROBLEM SOLVED ( well kind of, because 1800Flowers still sucks, and the experience was just a pain in the ass). So I promptly go to case and when I get to the third floor there is A WHOLE ENTIRE TABLE OF PEOPLES FLOWERS! who would have thought that if you get flowers delivered to you at Skidmore they get sent to some random desk and are basically untraceable until days later when/if someone finds the time to call you.

Lesson of the story is DO NOT ORDER FROM 1800Flowers. If you are going to order flowers for someone I suggest that you DEFINITELY find a local florist in the area where you are sending them and place your order that way. If you read the above link (which you probably wont now that I have ranted on and basically wrote a novel) you will see that they just suck as a company and overprice everything because they do not have their own florists and in order to make a profit they will change you say, 90 dollars for something that only costs the florist 30 dollars to make.

Any who, when I skyped with my boyfriend to show him the lovely flowers and teddy bear that I FINALLY got a hold of, his first remark was "oh... thats it? The vase is much smaller than I thought it would be". (Hence how he probably spent a lot of money for basically nothing, leading ME to feel guilty when its obviously not like I demanded them or used 1800YOUSUCKFLOWERS).

Receiving a Valentine's Day present has never been more stressful, even though I must admit I brought the stress on myself since no normal person would be worried about it to the extent that I was. Ah, the curse of Jewish guilt.

Because I Actually Know People Like This-Maybe You Do Too.

Because You'll Like This

Now I don't know about you, but in my high school applying to college and discussing where you were applying was probably one of the worst things ever. Because I went to a very competitive prep school, its a miracle that I did not turn out to be someone who felt the need to go to "the right"Ivy League school  if I wanted to ever have a chance at anything at life. This was in fact the case for many of my peers. And while I sat back and stressed out about my own anxiety over which schools would accept me, I did not have to worry about meeting anyones standards/ expectations but my own. If you are like me and know plenty of people who would have given a right arm and a leg to go to Yale than you will find this extremely accurate. If you can't relate you may find it to be rude and disrespectful, but for the most part if you know anyone who needed to be in an Ivy League school this should make you laugh. Sadly enough I know people who were not satisfied with getting into Dartmouth and who wanted to get into Yale. Honestly, lets be real here- going to any Ivy league school is nice enough that it is ridiculous for people to become so bratty about what "types" of students are there. This video shows the reality/mentality of certain people who decide to let where they go to college or where they don't go define them. Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, blah blah blah. They are all the same at the end of the day, unless you are like these kids in this video.

PS. The group in this video is a joke, but they did actually pretend to be an established group at the student club fair, so people really believed this.

Because There is Nothing Better Than A Ridiculous Lax Bro

Because This is A Favorite... So You Have No Choice But To Like It :-)!

Before you click the above link and wrongfully judge one of the most amazing people you must hear me out. Be  forewarned that the first time you watch this you will probably A) really really like it and find it hysterical and want to watch more,  B) find in incredibly stupid and in no way funny (but you will be wrong), C) not really care for it at all, or D) laugh at some parts and find other parts of it bizarre. The first time I watched this I think I fell somewhere between A and D. I laughed a lot but wasn't fully into it. Then, as I started to watch it more and more I became absurdly amused with the things said and the fact that someone actually did this. It is now in fact the number one most played song in my itunes, and yes I say this with pride. And no, I don't have horrible taste in music. This is just one of the greatest things ever and because I think so, it doesn't matter if you do or not.

Now it's time for some background context-because I said so. The bro in the video is actually a professional college lax player, and was sponsored by Schweppes ginger ale ( hence the fact that you will see a scene with ginger ale and perhaps now that will seem less random to you). Anyway, Con Bro Chill is one of the funniest people ever and if you end up liking this after giving it some tries you should continue to watch his stuff. His other videos are different and better in some ways, but this is the basic stepping stone to your future love for Con Bro Chill. By the way, his real name is Connor Martin... hence the name Con Bro... ha... get it.

Because This is Just Hysterical

YOU BETTER CLICK THIS NOW- Yes, because I said so.

Okay, so I have shown the above clip to many different people in many different ages groups and the usual reaction I get besides long streams of laughter is " this is absurd and ridiculous". Sometimes it is a hit or a miss- my fifteen year old cousin didn't let a laugh get out of her when watching this while my fourty-nine year old uncle found it extremely amusing. You should too. After watching it you will see why I think it is one of the best things ever. I am in awe of the fact that A) yes, someone ACTUALLY wrote this letter, and B) that something as simple as reading someones letter can be so entertaining. Ah, how wonderful it is to have a laugh at the expense of others.
